Sick kids, Dance and a "Hair Cut"

This is my sweet little baby who is super sick. She has had a cold now for over a week, and I took her to the Dr on Tuesday and found out she has Bronchiolitis, which is what they get before RSV. Then today I had to take her back to get her shots and she is sounding a little better so hopefully she is getting better now. Saylor has a cold too, but then got strep on top of it, so its been a fun week at our house.
On Saturday Saylor had her first dance performance. One of the High Schools from around here has their drill team put on a week long clinic and then at the end of the week they perform at half time of a boys basketball game. Saylor wasn't the best child in the world, in fact she was SO naughty. The clinic was almost 2 hours everyday and her group only danced for about 5 minutes of it, then they played games with them. Well Saylor was the little social butterfly that decided she could do whatever she wanted and not listen to her teachers. She got in trouble every day when she got home for not listening. And then she got sick, so the night of the performance she didn't want to dance and it took me 20 minutes to talk her into going with her group and that was right before it was their turn to go. But she did it, she went and danced and had fun doing it so oh well I guess.

Casha is a thumb sucker. I try to not let her be, but she continues to do it. She only does it in her bed or when she is really tired, but still. I will go in and take it out of her mouth and put her binki in and when I go back in later, she will have her thumb back in her mouth. Most of the time she just uses it to fall asleep and then takes it out the rest of the time.
What's this you ask? Oh it's just the hair Saylor cut off of her own head and then threw away. Yep, she cut all of that off. I was on the phone with my Dad (it was only like a 5-10 minute phone call) and when I got off, Saylor comes up to me with a really sad look and voice and tells me she cut her hair. (I was in the same room as her but looking up something on the computer for my Dad. And I keep getting the question, where did she get scissors? Well she has little kid ones with all of her art stuff and we were in that room) Well I go look in the garbage and see this, so then I really start looking at her hair and realize that she cut off quite a bit. I was trying really hard not to laugh, and she was trying really hard not to cry. She was very upset about the whole situation and knew she had done something very wrong.
I tried taking pictures of her and she was not having it. She was so embarassed about it and kept covering up her head like this or running to the couch and burying her head in the pillows so I couldn't see it. And she asked me "Is Daddy going to be really mad to me?" Then when Zach got home, she wouldn't let him look at it either, she kept burying her head so he couldn't see it. It made it even funnier because of how she was reacting to the whole situation.
Later that night I told her she had to let me take a picture. She wasn't happy about it, but let me take one at least :) All the short hair you see use to be as long as the rest of her hair.

Same as this side, it all used to be one length. This happened on Tuesday and as of right now, her hair is still looking that great. Right after it happened I had to take her to the Dr and she had strep so we haven't left our house since. Maybe tomorrow I will go get it fixed. When it is all down it looks like a mullet gone bad hairdo, its pretty special.

Just a little update on my sister Holl. For those of you who know she is in Cairo, Egypt with her family then you have probably been wondering if she is okay, and they are. They evacuated her and her kids on Monday and they flew in last night and are staying with my parents for awhile. They are here and safe.

  1. Hi Jean,

I am glad I get to be the first commenter. I am sorry about Saylor's hair. I am surprised you wanted to laugh, b/c when Kinley did that I mostly wanted to cry. She didn't have the proper training (good going Jean) to throw her hair in the garbage. So, I just kept finding clump after clump of hair. It was a nightmare. She let me know she didn't want long hair anymore.

Thanks for the bit at the end about Holly. I was hoping someone would tell me something about her today, and you did -- great!

    Take care,
    Colette

  3. Say is a killer diller. I couldn't help but laugh my head off when I saw she cut her hair! And I bet she was a real cutie patootie up on that dance stage!
