Casha is 1

Our sweet baby girl turned 1 yesterday (the 17th)!  It doesn't seem real that she is 1 already. It feels like she is still 8 months old, its crazy.  These pictures are out of order, but this is her with her new little duck that she got.
She got more excited about this paper than she did her presents. This is the look we got most of the day. She had just woken up in these few pictures, but she still gave us this look most of the day. She was kinda cranky all day for some reason.
We didn't do anything exciting or fun. I decided it wasn't worth it when she is 1 and can't tell the difference, so we just hung out and opened her few presents as a family. I have been reading to her since she was a little baby, but the only book that she will sit still for, listen too, and look at is her Duck and Goose book, so that is what we got her. 2 more Duck and Goose books and the little stuffed Duck and Goose from the books. She loved them and got excited about them (not that she gets they are from the books I am sure, but she loves small stuffed animals).
So I had to put these cupcakes on here because they turned out pretty cute, and I have never done them before, so I was pretty proud of myself :) Tonight we had a few friends come over for cupcakes and thats about as fun as it got around here.
She didn't know what to think about this cupcake. She stuck her hand in it and licked it, but wasn't sure about it being on her hand. She just stared at it for a little bit, and then would stick her hand in again and lick a little more and then stare at her hand some more.
She ate a little bit of the cake part and some of the frosting, but she never fully dug in and started eating it. Just licked her hand a few times and had a few chunks of the cake and then she was done with it and just kept holding her hand out and looking at it like she wanted it off of her.
Say was SO excited to give her her birthday presents. She helped me wrap them and then helped/opened them for Casha.
Say picked out this little baby to give her. Casha LOVES babies. She is smiling at the hand in the picture because she loves to take the hands and clap them together on her babies or the feet and clap them together. We do it hers all the time and now she does it to her babies all the time and loves it and gets so excited when she is doing it to them. If I take her down the baby doll aisle at the store she starts freaking out and gets so excited. The other day I caught her as she was literally diving out of the cart trying to get to the babies. She starts yelling and making noises until I give her one to hold.

  1. I'm all about the low-key birthday for 1 year olds. Just like you said--they're not going to remember it anyway and they'll be just as happy playing with family as they would having an actual party. BTW--your cupcakes look great!
